Legal issues to be considered are: Copyright - copyright is an important aspect in terms of legal and ethical issues, it is vital to gain permission of any content that you don't own either through a licence fee or some sort of signed agreement. Content that was originally subjected to copyright can be used after 70 years of the a copyright law was assigned, it is then available to the public to use. For my radio show specifically I will be under the PRS and PPL agreement so I can use any songs I like as long as they follow OFCOM regulations so have no swearing or explicit language. Data Protection Act 1988 - The Data Protection Act stops any personal information about anyone being used, this means telephone numbers, addresses or any contact information cannot be shared without the person's permission. So to abide by this, no personal information will be included in the radio show. Discrimination - It is illegal to discriminate against anyone as a result of their age, race, disability religious beliefs or sexual identity. I am complying with this consideration because I will not discriminate anyone in the radio show. Deformation of character - This can also be called libel when you say anything against a specific person that is not true or proven and that could affect their reputation. I found guilty of libel, a fine could be issued. As producer I will ensure others and personally not say anything negative about a person that is not true and could negatively effect their reputation so am abiding by libel in this radio show.
Ethical issues to be considered are: - It is important not to discuss opinions in relations to stories with a strong or specific ethical viewpoint or ethical matters in general. This could be race based, harassment or any kind, sexuality.
