Online shopping
ASOS was founded in 3rd June 2000 and means 'As seen on screen'. ASOS has stayed successful in the market because it has changed with the times and brings in new brands and new clothes. It also understands that in this golden age of technology, people prefer to shop online rather than having to go in store to buy clothes. ASOS provides that and also allows a return policy if you don't like it.
ASOS have evolved from a very small funded business into an extremely large, profitable organisation by targeting brands the women and men enjoy wearing and converging them so they are able to sell them on their site. Being fully online gives them a lot of edge because they are able to offer people more choice and selection of sizes because they just store it all in a warehouse and it gets shipped to them. ASOS has developed in the digital world by creating an app and providing the same service on there as on their website. It is a very efficient app with all the choice of the website, yes, it is a little compact but that is to be expected of an app. You can still save items and buy clothes as easy as you can on the website. You can buy the app very easily on the App Store or android store depending on your phone make
Music Videos
Music videos have developed in the digital world by becoming less staged (people singing on a stage) and more about telling a story. For example Childish Gambino's 'This is America' It's a great song, the video portrays some of the most disgusting and violet problems going on in America such as gun violence, race discrimination etc and he is also in the majority of the video. Music videos have become a way to convey messages and make people think.
In terms of how music videos link to the brief it's important to know what clothing is apparent within music videos and if it is able to be linked to a supplier and bought by the consumer. If so, what brands carry clothes that come up in music videos and celebrity interviews.
All of this research is relevant for my product as it explains how technology has evolved and therefore showing me where my product can go in the future with the technological evolution. I feel there is space for my app on the market as the research that I have done shows me that in the history of all these forms of media there has been no convergence of any of these products which, therefore this means that it could be very profitable. People are trying to find easier and cheaper ways to do thing such as shop, watch TV and listen to music, this is because of the digital revolution it has impacted people and made things more available for people. This is what my app does, it makes it easier and cheaper to find certain clothes and look like a celebrity.
