P1: EXPLAIN DIFFERENT IDEAS FOR AN ORIGINAL MEDIA PRODUCT BASED ON A CLIENT BRIEF
How I have interpreted the client brief?
When thinking about client requirement I look at the client brief and I need to think about the target audience which is 15-21 year olds. I also need to think about the genre which is television drama as well as the budget which is low most likely 50k per hour. The programme will air at 9pm on Thursday nights.
What are the audience considerations?

Conventions of TV drama
Conventions To really understand the conventions of a teen drama I have had a look at popular teen dramas like, Riverdale and Bates Motel, comparing the similarties and differences to understand the conventions within them.
Location - The location is normal the same or there is a main place the show always comes back to. For Bates motel the main location is the Motel itself. In Riverdale, the story always stays in the town and it always comes back to the diner in town called Pops where they hangout.
Narrative - The narrative is always about the main characters and everyone gets to tell their own story. In Bates Motel the whole story revolves around Norman and his mom Norma and the drama they go through with Norman's other personality and them killing people and getting in trouble with the police etc.
Characters - The main part of the dramas are the characters and what they go through. In Bates Motel there are loads of different character to fuel the story. However the cast is never huge to prevent confusing as well as so the audience can connect more to them whereas in soaps there are so many characters its hard to keep up. Within Riverdale there are many characters within the storyline but all the very important and main storylines are fuelled by the main 4 characters (Betty, Jughead, Veronica and Archie)
Breaking Bad is an American drama that was aired on AMC, like Riverdale it is on for about 45 minutes with adverts. From the dialogue at the beginning of the trailer it hooks the audience and establishes a narrative from the start. It also gives the audience detail as to what the plot may be. The lighting in the trailer also creates a certain atmosphere within the trailer, as in some scenes it is very sunny and bright indicating that everything is alright then this is contradicted by the dark lightning which connotes bad things to come. The editing in the drama is slow in the beginning, but as the trailer progresses on the editing becomes more fast paced, this could connote that as the series goes on the main characters life becomes more and more out of control and overwhelming. The first camera shot in the clip is of a mid shot of the main character, this allows the audience to recognise the main character.
Riverdale is an American television teen drama shown on the CW. The running time is 45 minutes with adverts between. The episode starts with establishing shots of the town, showing the audience key parts of the town for potential storyline arcs within the town, as well as familiarising the audience with the town. Throughout the beginning there is a voice over by who we later find out is Jughead, one of the main characters, he intros the show by giving a eerie description of everything that is going on, on screen. The audience will appeal to this intro because before they learn anything about the characters they can already get a sense of the environments the characters live in which can help them grasp an idea of what the characters would be like. The first shot seen is the establishing shot of the town, in the middle of the shot a church is shown. Churches symbolises peace and forgiveness which is a juxtaposition because of what the narrator says ‘you start seeing the shadows underneath" displaying that the town isn't as innocent as it may seem.
IDEA 1
IDEA 2
My Character Idea (in case you can't read the picture above. Also a bit more in depth)
Emma, Leo, Chloe, Isaac are the name of my 4 main characters .
Emma is the one that goes missing she is the "social media guru" of the group usually is almost always on her phone but she is not your stereotypical "basic girl" that is just into her phone, she is loyal, funny and always puts friends and family first.
Leo is the brainiac of the group, he has a love for the sciences and random facts and loves detective/ mysterious shows so he loves the aspect of trying to find clues like a detective. He also comes from a single parent household and his mother is black and his father is white but his father has died. Leo also got a secret crush on Emma which gives him more of a motive to find her.
Chloe is a musician and loves to sing and has her own band and is also school president she is almost always busy. She extremely close to her family, she is hispanic and she speaks Spanish whenever she is angry or stressed. She also has father that is extremely strict who is always pressuring her.
Isaac is a sporty health fanatic with awards and trophies for numerous sporting activities he is also the privileged one out of all of them, he is like the outlier of the group. But despite this he or any of the people in the group don't see him as a popular. But his life isn't always great his father can be huge pressure on him forcing him to do better in school and sometimes being abusive.
IDEA 3
My Narrative Idea
My idea is to have 4 friends all are 16 or 17 years old and there are two females and two males and one friend goes missing and the police and her parents and all three friends are searching for her a month has passed and nothing is found so the police give up and people start mourning their loss. The 3 friends go back to where she was last seen and they find something that police didn't see a month ago, it is a phone and they recognise it has their friends phone so they go and put it to charge it. They found a video on the phone she seemed be scared and hiding from someone it she asks people to come for her and that she needed help. Then the when the video end the phone starts smoking and sparks as if someone knew phone was missing and set destroyed the phone remotely. As this is happening their friend is currently being experimented on by men in suits.
